Bayer's Principles of International Human Resources Policy for
Management
Bayer operates in all the world's markets, with about 80 percent of its sales outside Germany.
This global presence has been achieved through successful marketing, by building up an
international network of production centers and by pursuing a worldwide strategy for research and
development.
The corporate mission statement, featuring the slogan “Bayer: Science For A Better Life”,
summarizes the Group’s goals, strategies and values.
To keep up with ever-increasing competition over the long term, it is necessary that the
company's international business be run by internationally oriented managers.
Bayer’s Principles of International Human Resources Policy for Managerial Employees, which
are outlined below, are mandatory guidelines for this important area of corporate policy.
Recognition that management positions at Bayer AG and its subsidiaries should, in principle,
be filled only by candidates with international experience. These candidates should therefore have
been employed at another Bayer Group company outside their home country, preferably for a minimum
of 2-3 years.
Every manager within the Bayer Group active in international business should have a good
knowledge of the English language. In addition, managers who do not have German as their native
language are encouraged to learn German.
