Female MR Project - Bayer Supports Women’s success -

- Promotion of Diversity -
What should Bayer do to promote diversity that is required by society?  And, what can the company solve the issues faced by employees and management?  An answer to such questions is the “Female MR Project”.

- The Background of the Project and Issues to solve -
The project started early in 2008 initially by General Medicine Business Unit and HR, but it was recognized as a project for Bayer as a whole.  The background of the project is:  (1) women count for more than 60% of newly-employed MRs in the recent years  (2) and despite this tendency, female MRs leave earlier than male MRs a few years after their entries.  (3) In addition, female MRs are forced to leave earlier than females working in the office because of their life-event such as marriage and childbirth.  This situation is not what  Bayer and female MRs want.  This situation is a common at many pharmaceutical companies in Japan and is the issue that the industry as a whole should tackle.
